Their parents were pacifists. During the Dragonsong War.They did not want to fight, nor wound, nor do anything but love. In desperation Kenneth and Amitié Barbier dedicated their children to Menphina if she would only give them a way to live a life of love. To their delight and surprise, She listened.Born to lesser nobles, Valentione and her siblings were taught what it meant to fully give one's heart to a cause, whether that was goddess, country or kin. The siblings were all forbidden from participating in anything having to do with the war, and spent much of their childhood in whatever distraction their parents could find.They received tutoring in languages, arts, science and mathematics and was ultimately drawn to textiles and fiber arts. When the opportunity presented itself, their parents abandoned everything they'd built within Ishgard to flee to the sunlit vistas of Limsa Lominsa. Their titles were cut away, their inheritance donated to the reformation, and they left behind the snow and ice that came to plague their home.

Please don't assume they'll immediately fall in love, or that they're meant for ERP.  004   Their last name is a play on the name 'Barbie'. Their parents are literally named Kenneth & Amitié - the latter being the french word for friendship, which is what the name 'Ruth' means. Ruth Handler being the name of the woman who invented Barbie dolls...Basically, lean into the bit. Ham it up. Why not?

  005   Never ever apologize for taking the time to reply to something! Whether it's in-game or via discord, everyone has different paces. I try to get a reply on discord out within a few hours at least, to a few days at most (if I'm out of town, for example).  006   most of my characters are moderately powered, lore adjacent. none of my ocs are written as the WOL, and none have any significant or mentionable connections to NPCs. As a modiste, Len specializes in creating wearable works of art for those who may find a traditional seamstress or tailor unsatisfactory. Her inspiration was her brother, after the accident that cost him his leg. She now creates gowns for those with tails, hats for every shape of ear and velvet ensembles that won't snag on someone's scales. Her time is split between Vylbrand & Ishgard so that her clients don't have to travel very far if they don't want to.
